The Big Show 09: group exhibition

Each year the gallery invites over 50 national and international artists to participate in The Big Show to present an eclectic mix of emerging and established talent. Participating artists are each given three 8 x 10 inch blank canvases, and offered little direction beyond “working from their current se-ries." Some artists choose to experiment in this format, while others are accustomed to the small scale and traditional materials. The presentation of a diverse group of artists in a single exhibition is what generates the energetic charge of the Big Show. The intention is to encourage connections, not only between artists, but also across communities, mediums, and concepts. Included in this season’s exhibit are works made from concrete, steel, acrylic polymer, textile, weaving and indus-trial detritus.
