Abstract

Through creative fine art practice, this research explores generative urbanism that understands cities as places where individual people, matter or processes can be more than the sum of their parts. They can be generative and become part of collective dynamics. The work combines two fields of study, urban design theory and practice from a lived perspective, as well as fine art as defined through viewers from an experiential perspective. Christoph Hadrys explores both fields of study through frameworksand participation, aiming to evoke reflections on individual and collective dynamics. As described by Gestalt psychology, the artistic work uses ambiguities, such as between here and there or you and me, as well as other ways of working to negotiate, reveal and question thesedynamics. This has resulted in physical prints, collages, mark making and installations. The work ranges from simple reflections on participation all the way to people’s actual participation and participatory evidence.
