Abstract | This paper provides innovative response to the perpetuating constraining issue of ‘access to reasonable cost of finance’ with which both would-be small business proprietors and existing growth-seeking small enterprise owner managers struggle to contend. Whilst this issue impacts small businesses in both developed and developing country contexts, it’s address is arguably far more pressing in developing nations where the achievement of high-quality small business start-up and sustained growth holds great promise in employment and income-earning provision and the alleviation of poverty. Thus, this study, whilst drawing upon relevant extant insight into the small business financing issue in advanced nations, gives specific focus to enhancing understanding of, and responding to, the enabling and constraining dimensions surrounding small business access to finance in Nigeria. The study thus adopts a multidisciplinary case study methodology which is underpinned by an initial base epistemological bootstrapping approach. |
