Abstract

Groove Study is an audio album released as physical CD with 40pp booklet also as digital streaming/download. It explores complex rhythmic aspects such as odd metres (not in 3 or 4, but 5, 7, 11, 13 etc), frequent metre changes, multiple metres (different metres go on at the same time) and multiple pulse (different tempo layered), etc, combined with conventional existing rhythm patterns such as Raggae and Drum’n’Bass (for example, Raggae in 7 beats, Drum’n’Bass in various odd metres which change frequently). It utilises unusual instruments for rock band setting such as pipe organ and clavichord.
