Abstract | Taking direct examples from the author’s own international research this chapter illustrates the patriotism of social change activists. It points out that one characteristic which people of this description share, even in different times and in different countries, is a professed deep love for their country which contrasts with the way in which they have often been portrayed: as disloyal citizens, if not outright traitors. |
