Abstract

Cryptocurrencies have come a long way since 2009 with the launch of bitcoin - whose use was predominantly associated with the dark web - to Facebook’s proposal of Libra in 2019, with huge potential for global use. In an industry with great prospects of existing in unregulated terrain through decentralised platforms, there is a need to consider carefully the ideal regulatory approach for the industry.
