Abstract

The convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sustainable design principles offers a promising path for advancing smart built environments. This paper pre-sents a framework that merges AI with sustainability to develop intelligent, re-source-efficient, and resilient built environments. It integrates AI algorithms and data analytics throughout building design, construction, and operation to en-hance energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprints, and improve performance through predictive modelling, real-time monitoring, and optimisation. The framework emphasizes user-centric design, utilizing AI systems like smart sensors and IoT devices to personalize occupant experiences for better comfort and productivity. It also addresses resilience by employing AI for risk assessment and scenario analysis to manage climate change and other uncertainties. This approach aims to create more adaptable and sustainable built environments, contributing to a future with smarter and more environmentally conscious infrastructure.
