Abstract | Professional development through academic conferences is crucial for health, physical education, and sport pedagogy scholars to stay current with research, pedagogy, and policy changes. However, accessibility to these conferences remains challenging, particularly for scholars outside well-funded institutions or from some geographical regions. This disparity not only limits academic contributions but also hinders career advancement opportunities. The following information proposes an A-Z guide for conference organizers to foster greater inclusivity and equity. Key recommendations include diversifying conference leadership and attendees across various demographics, promoting conferences through diverse platforms and languages, and ensuring inclusive building designs and culturally appropriate celebrations. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of equitable ticket pricing, offering subsidies and free places, and eliminating formal dress codes to reduce financial barriers and enhance attendee comfort. Through practical steps towards creating more inclusive and socially just academic conferences, the information aims to assist, innovate, and inspire attendees when approached with a socially just perspective. |
