Abstract | Asia has the highest population among all continents and is home to a wide variety of nations, cultures, and languages. It comprises five subregions: Central Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia (Middle East). These regions house some of the largest growing economies, such as China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia. Also, Asia holds a remarkable diversity in terms of religion and ancient cultures, such as Hinduism, Chinese culture, Taoism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Judaism, Shintoism, and Zoroastrianism. The influence of these varying cultural and economic dynamics gave birth to organizational psychology research in this part of the world. Over the last few decades, Asia has seen significant growth and development in this domain. While this is still a relatively new field in many Asian countries, leaders have started realizing it is an important discipline for understanding and improving the workplace. |
