Towards Better Academic Support Systems for International PG Students

This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the needs of international students, studying at post graduate level in a British university. It identified the current provision of support including automated solutions and found shortcomings in that there is a disconnect between the designers of platforms and academia where the student needs and preferences are understood. In that support should be fully inclusive, the paper includes a comprehensive overview of challenges posed by neurodiversity and the standard methods to mitigate their effect. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining both questionnaires and interviews to capture a rich, multifaceted understanding of the students' perspectives. By integrating qualitative and quantitative data, the research highlights the nuanced nature of international student experiences and that should close the gap between AI designers and the lived experience and provides a basis for future research and improvements in support systems for international students.
